Warm Winter Wishes Card

By | Cards, Cards for Men | No Comments

Today’s card is kind of a cross between fall and winter. The colors I chose are fall all the way. Originally I was going to go with Mossy Meadow but I was all out of that color of card stock so I went to the next best thing – Always Artichoke. You might think these colors are the same, but Mossy Meadow is actually a much brighter color while the Always Artichoke is more muted. This color combo is quite masculine so they’d be great for guy cards too. So the colors say fall but the stamps say winter. I…

Vintage Leaves Birthday Card for Men

By | Birthday Cards, Cards, Cards for Men, One Sheet Wonder Cards | No Comments

Fall is truly here as most of the leaves have fallen off of the trees in our area. Thankfully though the trees outside are bare, I can create as many leaves as I’d like in my craft room! Creating cards for men can sometimes be a challenge. Many of us have lots of floral and “girly” stamps and like to use pretty colors that go with them. When it’s time to make a card for a man our creative mind goes blank. The colors of fall (before all the leaves fell) were inspiration for this birthday card that’s perfect for…

Tangelo Twist Birthday Card

By | Birthday Cards, Cards for Men | 3 Comments

This Tangelo Twist Birthday Card came about while I was playing with the new 2014-2016 In Colors from Stampin’ Up! I wasn’t sure if I would like them because as a collection (there are 5 colors) they are very dark. But I found that individually the Tangelo Twist is pretty bright and makes a great guy card when paired with Basic Gray. Paper Sizes: Tangelo Twist: 3-3/4″ x 5-1/2″ Basic Gray: 5-1/2″ x 8-1/2″ scored at 4-1/4″ Tips for Making this Card: Emboss your card stock first and then punch the circle – you’ll have an embossed circle to use…

Watercolor Background Technique

By | Cards, Cards for Men, Techniques | 2 Comments

This card uses a fun watercolor background technique that works best with watercolor paper. Actually I don’t think it will work with any other kind of paper, but you are welcome to try! You’ll want to stamp first with a permanent ink like the Jet Black StazOn. Watch the video to see how the watercolor background was created! (The video is a little slow paced at times, so feel free to fast forward as you like. I didn’t want to cut anything out so you could really see how it was done.) Supplies Used:   Grab your watercolor paper and give…
