Fall Birthday Card

By | Birthday Cards, Cards for Men | 16 Comments

Not every card turns out the way you want it to.  At least for me it doesn’t.  I’m taking The Holiday Card Workshop and I absolutely loved the snowflake card that Jennifer McGuire shared today.  This is my variation…   Things I discovered while making this card – I have no snowflake stamps.  Hard to believe, I know. I should have used Very Vanilla instead of Whisper White card stock with this color combo. I love the Color Spritzer Tool. I should have made the opening for the greeting smaller because I didn’t have a greeting stamp large enough to…

Don’t try this without a Stamp-a-ma-jig!

By | Birthday Cards, Cards for Men | No Comments

Pull out your Stamp-a-ma-jig because you’re going to need it for this card!  Can you imagine trying to eyeball lining up this pattern stamp?  Not my idea of fun.  If you don’t know what a Stamp-a-ma-jig is or you have one but don’t remember how to use it, watch this video. This birthday card idea uses “manly” colors making it a perfect birthday card for men.  What are those colors?  Gumball Green, Tempting Turquoise, Pacific Point and Midnight Muse.  Even if you don’t make this exact card, give this color combo a try. By | Birthday Cards, Cards, Cards for Men | One Comment

This card idea is for the dog lovers. It uses the fun animal stamp set Animal Talk and speaks “dog talk” for Happy Birthday.  The colors and theme also make it a great card for men. The word background on the Tempting Turquoise card stock was made using the same stamp as the main image.  To stamp just the words and not the dog, you want to only put ink on the words carefully using an ink pad or a marker.  Of course I used the Stamp-a-ma-jig for perfect placement of all those words, rotating the stamp to create a…

It still feels like summer here, but fall is right around the corner and a few leaves are already starting to change colors.  This is one of my favorite times of year in Wisconsin!  Trips to the apple orchard, apple pie, hiking at Devil’s Lake, and watching my daughter play flag football are just a few of the things I’m looking forward to this fall. Fall images and colors are great for making cards for men!  Leaves, acorns, footballs… reds, oranges, browns and yellows… great ingredients for making cards for the men in your life.  Here is an example of…

A Father’s Day Card Idea

By | Cards, Cards for Men | No Comments

Tips for making this card… Manly Color Combo: Wild Wasabi, More Mustard, Cajun Craze, Chocolate Chip and Very Vanilla The Square Lattice Embossing Folder was used on the Chocolate Chip card stock.  The edges of the More Mustard card stock were roughed up using the Bone Folder. Sponge the edges of the Very Vanilla card stock with Crumb Cake ink. Use markers to color directly on the lion stamp.  (If you don’t know how to do that, you’ll want to take my free eCourse 5 Stamping Techniques Every Card Maker Should Know.) Use a corner of a 1" Square Punch…
