Christmas Gift Boxes

By September 26, 2016Christmas, Gift Ideas

If you follow me on Facebook you know that I received a nice sized box of Christmas stamping supplies from Stampin’ Up! on Friday. My head is bursting with ideas for using them all, but here’s what I made first… some Christmas gift boxes!

Christmas Gift Box

When I saw these Takeout Boxes in the Clearance Rack, I knew I had to get some. 6 boxes for only $2.40! Now that I’ve decorated a couple of them I think I need to order a few more packs. For this first one I used the This Christmas Specialty Designer Series PaperFun Fact: this pack has 24 sheets of paper in it! For some reason I was thinking it only came with 12 sheets so that was a pleasant surprise. It’s a lightweight paper so it’s not quite as thick as the other Designer Series Paper from Stampin’ Up! but it is lovely to work with.

Decorating the Box:

Easy peasy. I cut a piece of 12×12 pretty paper into 4″ strips. It takes just a little more than one strip to wrap all the way around the box, so I used one full 12″ long strip and then I cut a little 2″ piece off the end of another 4″ strip. Tape the two strips together, wrap them around the closed box and then tape the other ends together. That way the pretty paper is more of a band that will slide off to make opening the box easier. I used Tear & Tape Adhesive to make sure the paper would stay glued together.

Then I wrapped a piece of coordinating Cherry Cobbler ribbon around the box and tied it in a bow. I’m not the best at tying bows, but with a little finesse I got them to work.

For my second box I used paper from the same paper pack but I chose an all green pattern so that I could use some of this gorgeous Real Red 3/4″ Stitched Edge RibbonAlso, when I put together this second box I realized that I was supposed to tuck the folded corner edges into little slits on the outside of the box. It makes the box stay together better, but I think I like the finished look of the first box better.

Here’s a closer look at the gift tags because I LOVE how they turned out!!

Christmas Gift Tags

Making the Tags:

To make the tags I just cut a 2″ strip of card stock and used the Scallop Tag Topper Punch to make it a tag. I used the Stitched with Cheer stamp set and a strip of patterned paper to decorate the tags. Funny thing about that stamp set… I almost didn’t get it and it was the last thing I added to my order. I’m so glad I did because I can definitely see this as my go-to Christmas stamp set!

I glued a Very Vanilla tag to the back of the green tag on the first box and stamped “To” and “From” on the backs of both tags. The greeting sayings were cut out with the Bunch of Banner Framelits. I attached the tags to the ribbon tied around the boxes with some thin gold ribbon and some gold Baker’s Twine.

I’m telling you, it’s all in the pretty packaging! These boxes have a finished size of 3-1/2″ x 4-1/4″ x 2-1/2″ and are food safe. The perfect size to give a little something to your friends, family, neighbors or co-workers.

Grab some of these boxes from my Clearance Rack before they are GONE!
