Splash of Color Thank You Cards

By September 30, 2016Thank You Cards

I can’t remember exactly where the inspiration for these Splash of Color Thank You cards came from, but I love the look of black & white with a splash of bright color!

Splash of Color Thank You Cards

I needed a whole stack of thank you cards so I knew I wanted to keep the design simple. The splash of color with the thank you greeting was a little too plain so I added some swirly things from the Perpetual Birthday Calendar stamp set. Stamping them in opposite corners makes it look like they are flowing across the card.

My favorite color is blue, so I started making these cards with a Tempting Turquoise background. The splash of color was created using another stamp from the Perpetual Birthday Calendar stamp set. I stamped it twice right next to each other so that it would be big enough behind my thank you greeting. Instead of stamping it twice right on top of each other, I turned the card stock around to stamp it the second time. That made it look more like I really watercolored it.

Then horror of horrors my Tempting Turquoise ink pad was running out of ink and I did not have a refill!!! I don’t know how that happened. I always order a refill for every ink pad I buy just so this doesn’t happen. However, this led to creatively changing the background color to Melon Mambo…

So what I would like to know is… what color would you use for the background? Leave a comment & let me know. Maybe I’ll even try it!

I really like this card. I think I would like to see any of the new In-Colors. But like you, I am a fan of blue so maybe even Midnight Navy.

  • Robin Donart says:

I think I’d like to make a set with a whole variety of colors. I’d probably do a set in the Subtles collection–love that Calypso Coral, Pool Party, So Saffron, and Pear Pizzazz in particular!

I think I like the blue better, however, this is an awesome card and you could use so many colors on it. I love the simplicity of it.

  • Sue Sturdevant says:

I think you could use whatever color is your favorite for this card. I just may case this card but with the a few changes. Do the card as landscape, use the same background stamps but using the Stylized Birthday stamp (item 141828) for the greeting.

Garden Green but, green is my favorite color.

I would use both or even any color that works for you…I am realizing more often that nothing is set in stone and to be flexible in both card making and life!!! Yesterday I was making a card using the Jar of Love set and wanted to use a coral base and after searching my stash I finally found what I was looking for but in the process of making the card I realized that tempting turquoise would have worked just as well…duh!!! Now I will be making a bunch of cards with the turquoise as I have tons of that paper!!! So…moral of that story is use what ya got…it always turns out good!!!

I like both colors, though pink is my favorite

I like both colors. You could do the same card just using different colors.

  • Carole says:

I love the blue but both cards are really striking even though fairly simple.

  • Donna W says:

I would use teal. Love teal

  • Robin Bennett says:

I would use a blue for a man’s card. Pink or lavendar for a female card!!

  • Portia says:

Its so simple you could change it for the season to a burnt orange splash with brown letting.

  • i love the bright pinks but would probably choose cherry cobbler as my favourite colour.

I think my favorite color is yellow…. or red… or peach.. or coral…
too many pretty shades of so many colors!
I do love these cards, and if you hadn’t said you had turned a stamp
the opposite direction, I wouldn’t have even noticed!!
    Great Job!!
Buuuuttt… I would use the same color ink and splatter it around instead of the black “dots”.
