Lighthouse Birthday Card {with an easy layout}

If you’ve just started making cards or you’re looking for quick & easy… this card is for you. The layout is quick & easy and you can duplicate it with just about any paper and stamps that you have.

If you watched my 2016-2017 Stampin’ Up! catalog tour video then you know that the Stylized Birthday stamp was one that popped right out at me and I had to have it right away. It has not disappointed. It’s a larger stamp so it fills up a lot of real estate on my cards and it’s a lovely handwritten font that can be used on cards for anyone.

Masculine cards can sometimes be hard to make. For the men in my life easy is better. My husband has a firm “no scallops or ribbons” policy on the cards I give him. 🙂 Just kidding, he likes any card I give him. But he did say once that he thought manly cards shouldn’t contain scallops or ribbon. So I kept this one simple and monochromatic.

Lighthouse Birthday Card

Paper Sizes:
Whisper White: 3-1/4″ x 4-1/2″
Striped Paper: 3-3/4″ x 5″
Dapper Denim: 4″ x 5-1/4″
Whisper White card base: 5-1/2″ x 8-1/2″

Monochromatic means that you choose one neutral color and one other color. In this case my neutral is Whisper White and my other color is Dapper Denim. I think it makes for a striking card and you don’t have to worry about figuring out what colors go together!

This card has a basic layout that you can use for so many different cards! Go ahead and pull out a patterned paper you have and use it to replace the striped paper on this card. Now find some larger stamps to fill up the main white piece – maybe replace the lighthouse with a flower or a snowman! The possibilities are only limited by the supplies in your craft room and your imagination. I know you can come up with all kinds of cards with this layout and I’d love to see them. Be sure to post a photo on my Facebook page so we can ooh and ahh over your cards.
