Sending Smiles

By January 30, 2017Cards

You don’t need an actual occasion or holiday to send a handmade card. Often the best cards are sent just because. That’s why this greeting stamp “Sending Smiles Across the Miles” paired with hot air balloon paper is perfect for sending cards to faraway friends!

Sending Smiles Card with Lift Me Up stamp set & Carried Away Designer Series Paper from Stampin' Up!Circle Size: 1-7/8″
Basket Weave strip: 3/4″ x 4″
Hot Air Balloon paper: 4″ x 5-1/4″
Watermelon Wonder card base: 4-1/4″ x 11″ scored at 5-1/2″

This is a fun easy card layout – give it a try! If you have pretty two sided paper like this you can cut it into SIX 4″ x 6″ pieces and then cut a 3/4″ piece off the bottom of each. The bigger piece goes on your card front and then you can just flip the smaller strip over and add it on top. The final piece is your greeting. I always like to pop mine up with Stampin’ Dimensionals to add a little depth to my card. It really does make a big difference!

I often get asked what I do on the inside of my cards, so here’s a peek at the inside…

Lift Me Up Card InsideWhisper White insert: 4″ x 5-1/4″

It’s fun to continue the design from the front of your card onto the inside. For this one I just stamped hot air balloons flying up the side of the card. Sometimes I stamp a message on the inside and sometimes I leave it blank so I have more room to write a personal message.

When my card base is made of darker card stock I cut a white insert to fit on the inside. That makes it easier to decorate and write in. Whisper White card stock is better for when you are stamping on your insert but plain old computer paper will work too.

This is one of the 8 cards I made from ONE piece of 12×12 hot air balloon paper using our January One Sheet Wonder Card Club template. If you’ve got stacks of pretty papers lying around we’d love to have you join us so we can help you turn those papers into pretty cards. The January club is almost over, so Join Now to get started!

I agree there is nothing like sending or receiving a card for no special reason. Love your card here and I have that stamp set bundle on my wish list.
